In the Forest Breeding and Seed Center of the Republic of Tatarstan (Sabinsky Municipal District) where ball-rooted planting stock is grown the seeds have been sown. 4 million pieces of European spruce, Scotch pine, Siberian larch, etc. have been sown in 4 greenhouses. The forestry specialists are going to proceed to the next stage of sowing in May-June. In total, in 2017 the Forest Breeding and Seed Center plans to grow 12 million pieces of planting stock.

The seedlings are in greenhouses from 4 to 6 weeks. Then they are carried to the fields for the completion of growing (hardening), for further adaptation to their natural conditions. To date, on the fields for hardening there are about 8 million pieces of the ball-rooted planting stock which will be used for the forthcoming spring silvicultural work.

For five years of work, the Forest Breeding and Seed Center has become widely known and popular among representatives of all “forest” regions of Russia and the post-Soviet countries. For acquaintance and exchange of experience a unique enterprise was visited by foresters from the Altai Region, and in the near future the delegation of the Irkutsk region is going to visit the Center.
