Forest Selection and Seed Center of the Republic of Tatarstan is completing work on sowing of the first rotation of coniferous and deciduous seeds.

“We plan to complete the sowing tomorrow, on March 25, said the Director of the Center Ruslan Gazizov. - In total, 2 million units of pine seeds, 1 million units of spruce seeds, 700 thousand units of birch seeds and 300 thousand units of seeds of tree caragana will be sown. Seedlings will grow in greenhouses until early May, after which we will transfer them to the growing fields”.

For reference. The Forest Selection and Seed Center of the Republic of Tatarstan is Europe’s largest automated nursery, where planting material with a closed root system is grown. The production capacity of the center is 12 million of planting material with closed root system per year. FSSC covers an area of ​​11.3 hectares, on which there are 4 greenhouses, 13 growing fields, a cooling and storage unit for seedlings, 2 warehouses, etc. The center is equipped with modern equipment of the Swedish company BCC AB.

In 2019, 6.7 million units of ordinary pine seedlings (including 202.5 thousand pcs with improved hereditary properties), 2 million pcs of European spruce seedlings, 1.5 million pcs of hanging birch, 1.3 million pcs of Siberian larch, 0.5 million pcs of acacia were grown in FSSC.
