Employees of the branch of FBU “Roslesozashchita” – “Forest Protection Center of the Republic of Tatarstan” started monitoring pest populations using pheromone traps. Thus, experts installed pheromone traps to account for the number of small black spruce barbel in the forest fund of the Lubyansky and Buinsky forestries, and green oak leafworms - in the territory of the Kaibitsky forestry.

Observations will be carried out from May to August of this year. “Pheromone supervision, which consists in the use of synthetic pheromones, analogs of natural substances that attract insects, occupies an important place in the system of state forest pathological monitoring,” says acting. branch director Venera Efremenkov. “Pheromones placed in special traps make it possible to timely determine the beginning of the growth in the number of dangerous pest species before their mass reproduction, which can lead to a violation of the sanitary and forest pathological state of forests.”
